New Ruins

Virgile Tanguy

The citizens of Athens love spending time outside. In the area of Metaxourgeio, the majority of the space is not specifically meant to be ‘public’, but still used as such. Virgile wanted to add something to these places to improve the areas. He walked around for three weeks, absorbing the daily use by the people. He got his eye onto the rough structures of the unfinished buildings. The brutal aesthetic could be brought back into the circle, blending in with its ambiance. He took this as a source of inspiration for the design of a stool, which fits the unfinished edges of the neighborhood.
