Inside Metaxourgeio, Athens, two contrary worlds meet: here lies Chinatown, an area abundant with mass produced products, but the streets are also full of the local craftsmen. What would happen if the shop keepers and craftsmen teamed up and collaborated? With Mass&Crafts, Moreno put this to the test. He searched and combined the opportunities within those two worlds. It aims to search for ways to deal with the bombardment of mass production, while ensuring that local crafts do not get lost and replaced. This led to three examples where local craftsmen help increase the functional and aesthetic qualities of mass-produced objects. Is the future handmade?
