Learning – Object Stories

Eva Jagerman

During Eva’s research on formal learning places in Almada, she stumbled upon a language barrier. She wondered: how can we learn from a foreign place if we don’t speak the native language? As an informal learning method, Eva started to explore Almada by walking around in public space. She observed places, human actions and collected objects from the streets. This collected data serves as a visual language that reveals elements of the identity of Almada. Once brought back to her home country, she realized how they are closely related to their original environment. It is a trace of past and future activities. Object Stories is a visitors guide. Users can explore the relation between a found object and its environment. It is a play that guides them through Almada while analyzing and observing the city.
